Unlocking security and privacy in robotics: Alias Robotics' role in the RESPECT Project
In the realm of robotics, where innovation meets necessity, ensuring security and privacy is paramount, especially in sensitive environments like healthcare, as we learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic. At Alias Robotics, we've embarked on an exciting journey with the European Union through the RESPECT Project (MSCA RISE program), a collaborative initiative aimed at fortifying the cybersecurity framework for mobile robotics in indoor healthcare logistics, funded by the European Union.
The researchers behind Alias Robotics: Alfonso and Álvaro
Thanks to the RESPECT program, our team members Alfonso in France and Álvaro in Cyprus have played key roles in sharing information and expertise. Their involvement highlights the importance of public-private collaboration in shaping the future of robotics security.
The RESPECT Project: Safeguarding robotic solutions
The RESPECT project is not just a venture; it's a commitment to crafting a sustainable, cross-sectoral European network dedicated to researching and implementing concrete defense strategies. Here's a overview of the objectives:
-
Spotting weaknesses, bolstering defenses: Explore cyber-physical systems to pinpoint vulnerabilities that threaten security and privacy in autonomous mobile robots operating in healthcare settings.
-
From analysis to action: Armed with insights, we analyze these vulnerabilities alongside projected threats, devising robust defense measures and mitigation strategies to safeguard mobile robot operations.
-
Setting standards for security: The goal is to create a standardized set of vulnerability testing procedures and guidelines, building upon the Robot Vulnerability Scoring System. This framework ensures secure and autonomous fleet management in safety-critical environments.
A collaborative effort
The RESPECT Project thrives on collaboration. By facilitating personnel exchanges among organizations with diverse expertise spanning cybersecurity, healthcare, cloud computing, and robotics, we promote a rich exchange of knowledge between industry and academia. Hailing from five EU countries, this collaborative effort underscores our collective dedication to fortifying the foundations of robotics security. This is made possible thanks to the following 11 partners, among whom we are included: Université d’Orléans – UORL, Stream Vision – SV, Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft Mbh – JR, University of Cyprus – UCY, 3AE Health Ltd – 3AHEALTH, Sphynx Analytics Limited – SANL, Universitat Politècnica de València – UPV, Robotnik Automation SLL – ROBOTNIK, Institute of Communication and Computer Systems – ICCS, Singularlogic Anonymi Etaireia Pliroforiakon Systimaton Kai Efarmogon Pliroforikis – SLG.
Looking ahead: Towards a secure future
As we navigate the intricate landscape of robotics, Alias Robotics remains dedicated to pioneering security and privacy standards. Through initiatives like the RESPECT project, we not only mitigate risks but also pave the way for a future where robotics enhances lives without compromising security.
Stay tuned as we continue to push the boundaries of innovation, one secure step at a time.
Join us in the journey towards a safer tomorrow.
